Apple's new HomePod already has a major issue

Apple HomePod 10+ things you should know before you buy

Here's the thing: some wood oil treatments have drying agents with organic compounds, and these could be interacting with the HomePod's base.

Apple goes on to say that "It is not unusual for any speaker with a vibration-dampening silicone base to leave mild marks when placed on some wooden surfaces".

Our own HomePod review is still ongoing and we'll have a score for you in the coming days. According to Apple, the marks can fade over the course of several days after the HomePod is removed, and if that doesn't work, you should clean the surface with the manufacturer's suggested oiling method.

Once again, the company has done an incredible job marketing and hyping up another one of its products, giving consumers the impression they must go out and buy the HomePod now.

"It wasn't the end of the world for us". "For our tests we placed the speaker on a solid oak kitchen worktop treated with Danish oil", stated the review.

Stuart Miles, founder of PocketLint, told the BBC that he had to "sand the wood down and then re-oil it" in order to eradicate the damage. Good luck with that. In the meantime, try to keep your HomePod far away from any wooden furniture. "It will surely be a sore point for many potential buyers".

The deputy prime minister also commented on the situation in Manbij where American troops are stationed alongside YPG militants. The two defense leaders are attending the year's first conference of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation defense ministers.

Williamson in the runs as New Zealand beat England
New Zealand should have put the game to bed earlier with Mitchell Santner and Tim Southee spilling easy balls. Williamson's maximums came behind square, straight down the ground, over deep mid-wicket and over fine leg.

I would advise anyone purchasing these speakers to place something between them and whatever surface you're planning to place it on.

Why? If it's bumpy or rigid, it might affect your HomePod and stop it from properly working. This is quite unfortunate especially since the HomePods are not meant to be kept on soft surfaces.

Apple has responded to this controversy by publishing a support page with some suggested tips. Alternatively, you could also place it on glass or granite with no issue at all, or, you know, just skip the overpriced Apple device entirely this time around. Making it easier to switch moods in the room, the HomePod can search Apple Music's large music catalog, so users can simply request, "Hey Siri, when was this song by Taylor Swift released?" or "Hey Siri, can you play a different genre?"

It is now not clear if the problem affects all HomePods or just the initial batch given away to reviewers.

After much delays, Apple finally made the HomePod available in selected countries this year. Now the company itself has confirmed the worrying issue.
