While it's hard to take the #Grumors seriously these days, sources have told Schefter and Mortensen that Gruden will actually be "tempted to accept" the Raiders' offer. I cant say I havent taken any phone calls.

During a 6-10 finish in 2017 that resulted in a third-place finish in the AFC West, the Raiders struggled under offensive coordinator Todd Downing, fueled by a mediocre passing attack and a ground game that lingered near the bottom of the National Football League rankings all season despite the Raiders' big-money commitments to offensive linemen Kelechi Osemele, Gabe Jackson and Donald Penn. But this Oakland team regressed badly in 2017, which led to a 6-10 record.

So, it's natural to remain skeptical about Gruden leaving ESPN, but this Raiders rumor is certainly an interesting one.

Though he doesn't have coaching experience, it's hard to overlook the personal connection he has with Gruden. And it's easy to understand why he keeps going back to ESPN. Rightfully so, as there hasn't been a sexier head coaching candidate in the last few years than Gruden - a Super Bowl victor with a throwback personality that fans gravitate towards.
