CBS Fires Charlie Rose for 'Extremely Disturbing and Intolerable' Behavior

CBS suspends Charlie Rose; PBS halts his show after allegations

David Rhodes, president of CBS News, tweeted a statement saying Rose's "termination" is effective immediately. Many of these women alleged that Rose had touched them inappropriately, placing his hand on their legs and giving them shoulder rubs without their consent.

The women claim that the inappropriate advances took place when they worked for or aspired to work for Rose on his longtime running PBS show "Charlie Rose" from the late 1990s until as recently as 2011.

Rhodes said it was important to maintaining credibility in reporting allegations involving media figures elsewhere that CBS manage basic standards of behaviour at its own shop.

In a statement posted to Twitter, the veteran host said: "I deeply apologise for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed", he said.

"I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate", said Rose. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realise I was mistaken.

Rose was suspended from the network after The Washington Post published claims from eight women who all worked or wanted to work for his PBS program. Two said that while they were working for Rose at his residences or were traveling with him on business, he emerged from the shower and walked naked in front of them.

'I should have left them in jail'

5 militants, IAF Garud killed, jawan injured in north Kashmir encounter
On Friday a militant and a police officer were killed in the outskirts of Srinagar during a brief shootout. Prior to that, two terrorists had got killed in an encounter in Bonikhan Hajin on November 22, 2016.

The consensus view in the television news industry is that Rose will not return to the CBS broadcast or to his nightly talk show on public broadcasting.

In light of the allegations, PBS and Bloomberg are suspending distribution of Rose's nationally syndicated interview show.

Rose has been one of three hosts of "CBS This Morning" since 2012 and is also a contributor to "60 Minutes". PBS said it hasn't yet considered what will replace the show; the service is providing member stations reruns of programs like "This Old House" and "Finding Your Roots" to fill holes in their schedule this week. "He's toast", said one off-screen voice.

O'Donnell added, "Let me be very clear". There is no excuse for this alleged behavior ... "But the thing about Charlie Rose is that he would commonly require his employees to come over to his private homes", Brittain said.

"And I'm really struggling because how do you, what do you say when someone that you deeply care about has done something that is so terrible", King said. "I should have stood up for them", said Vega, 52.
