Hillary Clinton Gave This Absurd Reason For Why She Shouldn't Be Investigated

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Out anchor Shepard Smith, one of the few voices of reason on Fox News Channel, has debunked one of the stories his network loves to promote - the claim that as secretary of State, Hillary Clinton approve the sale of a uranium mining company to a Russian firm in exchange for donations to the Clinton Foundation.

"Uranium deal to Russian Federation, with Clinton help and Obama Administration knowledge, is the biggest story that Fake Media doesn't want to follow!"

"Hillary Clinton's State Department approved the transfer of 20 percent of America's uranium holdings to Russian Federation, while nine investors in the deal funneled $145 million to the Clinton Foundation", Trump said on the campaign trail in June 2016, according to CNN.

A number of Republican lawmakers have called to form a special counsel to look into the connection between the Clinton Foundation donations and the State Department approving a deal alongside President Barack Obama's administration, which authorized a Russian company to buy a uranium mining group from Canada that primarily works out the the USA, notes The Washington Post. "Now, here's the accusation", he said.

'Nine people involved in the deal made donations to the Clinton Foundation totaling more than $140million, ' Smith said.

The alleged relationship between the approval of the sale and the Clinton Foundation was first raised in 2015 by conservative author Peter Schweizer. "The next year, candidate Donald Trump cited the accusation as an example of Clinton corruption". Because the sale raised concerns about national security, it was subject to approval by the USA government.

Fox News anchor debunks network's 'Clinton uranium scandal' sparking fury

Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, opened investigations on October 24 into the agreement struck during the previous administration of President Barack Obama, a Democrat.

"Not only do we know the FBI was investigating the Russian corruption in America - bribing people involved with the deal for uranium - we know that she was the chairman of the committee that had to approve that sale", Gorka said.

The sale was also approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and by then-president Obama. When asked if she was anxious about the prospect of being investigated, she said that she wasn't.

Fox News, along with Trump and his allies, have been suggesting for months a link between donations to the Clinton Foundation and the approval of a deal by the State Department and the Obama administration allowing a Russian company to purchase a Canada-based mining group with operations in the United States. That effectively undermines any argument that the sale was a quid pro quo. "OUT!" one viewer, Brook West, tweeted.

"Get Shepard Smith off of Fox", one Twitter user wrote. Another called him "a lover of CNN especially Don Lemon", another out gay journalist. He's arrogant and doing his own spin.
