India v Australia, 2017: 5th ODI - Statistical Preview

Team India currently occupy the second spot after losing the fourth ODI in Bengaluru

India skipper Virat Kohli's wish to bat first didn't come true and in a crucial match, Aussie captain Steve Smith had the initial smile as Australia posted a challenging 334-run total for the loss of five wickets after opting to bat first.

There will be no let-up in intensity as a ruthless India look to inch closer to yet another series whitewash when they take on a beleaguered Australia in the fourth One-day global in Bengaluru today.

Virat Kohli and his Indian team have played exceptional cricket in the ongoing ODI series against Australia and have taken an unassailable 3-1 lead.

He Said "Honestly at the 30-over mark, they were going strong".

Ajinkya Rahane (53) and Rohit Sharma (65) continued their good form in the series as they helped India reach 65 for naught in the first powerplay. We were pretty optimistic.

The boys in gold got off to a roaring start with Warner and his opening partner Aaron Finch belting the Indian bowlers to all parts of the field. I think the wicket was really good to bat on and from that point of view you have to give them a bit of advantage there. That can happen. People have off days.

The Aussie bowlers did well to pile the pressure on the Indian batsman in the final stage of the match despite there being two set batsman on the crease.

"Umesh and Shami bowled well".

Virat Kohli has drawn the ire of his own fans over an incident that sunk India in the fourth ODI against Australia. We got a pretty good opening partnership. This is not to say that they played badly, they still managed to cross 300, but the victory was agonisingly close for them.

The 21-run win didn't come about easily though as the Indians led by their own opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane made a real fight of it in front of almost 25,000 fans who braved the threat of thunderstorms to egg their team on. The 231-run stand finally ended when Kedar Jadhav (1-38) accounted for Warner but Australia looked dominant at 231 for one in 35 overs. Really paced the innings nicely.

Travis Head (29) and Peter Handscomb then added 63 runs for the fourth wicket, making sure Australia did not lose momentum like in the previous game.
