Software Glitch Causes Brief Delays At Airports Worldwide

Problems have been reported in Charles de Gaulle Paris London Gatwick and New York

Paris, Zurich and Frankfurt airports said they had suffered problems with computer systems, but they had been quickly resolved.

During the morning, we experienced a network issue that caused disruption to some of our systems.

According to Bloomberg, more than 130 airlines worldwide rely on Amadeus's passenger-service system to manage flight reservations, inventory and departure-control capabilities.

Flyers with Qatar Airways and Qantas flights are also adversely affected and have reported issues.

Problems were reported at airports in Asia, Europe and the Americas, demonstrating the breadth of the software's use as well as the integrated nature of modern air travel. The Spanish software company issued a statement after almost four hours to announce their systems had, "recovered and are now functioning normally".

A glitch in a computer system used to check in passengers for flights has left a number of major airports around the world in a state of disruption.

Experts, however, called into question whether the increases for 2015 and 2016 would be part of any longer-term trend. Craig has said for years that the data isn't accurate and that the city's new $9 million system is far more complete.

One passenger tweeted saying: "If your entire system is down at REAGAN airport in DC, does that mean the planes aren't leaving on time?"

In a Facebook post, Changi Airport said the check-in process may take longer as manual boarding passes have to be issued.

Today's outage, by contrast, has seemingly affected airports and airlines on at least four different continents.

The spokesman added that it is "not an airport issue" but that check-in software has affected a few airlines' check-in systems.

"Amadeus regrets any inconvenience caused to customers".

"Our technical teams took immediate action to identify the cause of the issue and mitigate against the impact on customers", the company said in a statement.
