Abraham Fires Blanks, Sanches Struggles As Newcastle Edge Swansea

Swansea head coach Paul Clement says his side were second best in all aspects of the game in their 1-0 defeat at home to Newcastle.

Benitez would have been satisfied by a first half in which Newcastle held Swansea, for whom Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches was making his debut after his shock loan move, at arm's length.

But Benitez's absence didn't affect Newcastle's players, and captain Lascelles boosted the former Liverpool manager's spirits with his headed victor in the closing stages at the Liberty Stadium.

Giggs told Wales Online that he had been watching Sanches several years ago and was impressed with the aggressive player's talent.

Having earlier cleared a shot off his own goal line, Jamaal Lascelles headed home the victor from a corner in the 77th minute as Newcastle picked up a second straight victory. "I didn't think they were great against Palace but did what they had to do". The actual game, what I saw was nothing like I expected.

Detroit Lions cage the Arizona Cardinals, 35-23
And second-year defense end Anthony Zettel posted the Lions' only sack of the game, and just the second of his career. The Lions limited opposing quarterback Carson Palmer to 269 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Mauricio Pochettino: 'Vincent Janssen has future at Tottenham Hotspur'
He was then omitted from the clubs Champions League squad , with Mauricio Pochettino claiming there simply wasn't space for him. In his presser before Saturday's match away at Everton, Pochettino said that Janssen remains in his plans.

Although the margin of the defeat is small, I'm more disappointed with our performance. We are taking everything as it comes at the moment, getting the training right and make sure we are at it again.

Newcastle will attempt to make it 2 league wins in as many games when they play Swansea away from home later today (Sunday). Cisse's second goal then earned Newcastle an unlikely point.

Despite suffering back-to-back losses to Tottenham and Huddersfield upon returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking following relegation at the end of the 2015-16 season, a win over West Ham ensured they got back on their feet. We need Rafa back as soon as possible.

Tammy Abraham should have given Swansea the lead on the hour when he rounded goalkeeper Rob Elliot and seemed certain to apply the finish. - Matt Ritchie has registered an assist in all three of his Premier League appearances against Swansea.

"Swansea have done well to sign him - Paul Clement's ties to Bayern and friendship with Carlo Ancelotti has got a lot to do with it, but that's when you've got to capitalise on stuff like that. But, at the same time, we've got to wake up quickly".
