New York City Police Officer Shot in Brooklyn

An NYPD officer was shot in the Cypress Hills neighborhood of Brooklyn Thursday

Authorities swarmed a block in Cypress Hills after the NYPD officer was shot multiple times by the man, who then barricaded himself in a two-story home, according to police.

The wounded officer has been named as Hart Nguyen, a 30-year-old father of two who joined NYPD in July 2015.

Forewarning data is preparatory, police said officers trust they saw the man holding a tyke, potentially a newborn child, at a window of the building.

When police stormed the apartment, they found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio addressed the media at the hospital.

The mother of the suspect, 29, whose identity has been withheld, called police to report her mentally-disturbed son, according to O'Neill.

The officer was brought to Jamaica Hospital with non-hazardous wounds.
