Deadly Ohio State Fair Ride Accident Caused By 'Excessive Corrosion'

Ohio State Fair accident cause released

"Excessive corrosion" is to blame after an Ohio State Fair ride broke apart July 26, killing one person and injuring seven others, an investigation by the ride manufacturer showed.

Tyler Jarrell, 18, was killed by the ride malfunction after he was thrown about 50 feet into the air.

Four people remained hospitalised last week, including one woman in a coma.

"This finally led to the catastrophic failure of the ride during operation", the statement said.

Pixel 2 leaks, confirms dual font-facing speakers, no headphone jack
This is kind of an obvious expectation given that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are upgrades to the 2016 models. Venture Beat further reports that, as rumored, the Pixel 2017 family will not have 3.5mm headset jacks .

"It was determined that excessive corrosion on the interior of the gondola support beam dangerously reduced the beam's wall thickness over the years", the manufacturer said in the statement. The ride had passed multiple inspections in the days leading up to the accident.

Albert Kroon, the product manager for KMG, which makes the ride, said KMG is collaborating with other safety experts in the industry to create a better safety and inspection protocol that will keep other accidents like this from occurring, CNN reported. The Associated Press reports that Jarrell, a Columbus native, was enrolled for basic training in the summer of 2018.

The company had ordered fair and carnival operators throughout the country to stop using the Fire Ball ride and others like it following the accident at the Ohio State Fair. His family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit. The fair's last day was Sunday.

The ride cleared inspection just hours before it malfunctioned. The Great Allentown Fair once featured a smaller version, but it is no longer in the fair's ride package, a state official said.
