Australian Teen's Feet Eaten by Mystery Sea Creatures

Doctors were trying to work out what happened to Kanizay's legs on Saturday

Sam Kanizay, 16, found his feet and ankles covered in blood after soaking his legs in Melbourne's Brighton Beach on Saturday evening.

Associate professor at Monash University's School of Biological Sciences Richard Reina said: "I suspect the reason why the wounds were so intense was because he was standing still for so long and his legs went numb".

His father has since posted a sickening video of the creatures - scooped out of the water with a net and believed to be sea lice - feasting on chunks of raw meat.

According to the Guardian Australia, Sam's dad said that once they got Sam's legs cleaned up, the bleeding would start immediately again and so they went straight to hospital.

Sea lice and even marine leeches (isopod crustaceans) have been known to attack swimmers in large numbers.

Some have suggested sea lice were to blame for the horrific attack.

When speaking with 3AW journalists, the Melbourne youth said there were "hundreds" of "pin-sized bites" on both his feet and ankles.

As his teenage son recovers in hospital after apparently being bitten by sea fleas, an Australian father has filmed a swarm of the flesh-eating creatures he captured at the same beach going insane for raw steak.

Ronald Koeman has spoken about his intention regarding defender's future
As a result they were guaranteed to avoid some of the giants swimming around in the waters - the likes of AC Milan and Ajax . Calvert-Lewin's smart finish sealed Everton's progress though, leaving Koeman satisfied with the night's work.

"Maybe the strong westerly winds pushed them towards the shore and they congregated on the eastern side of the bay where Sam went", he said.

Sam remained in the hospital Monday recovering from the wounding. A pool of blood was formed on the floor at the hospital when his legs were wiped.

"I collected these unusual creatures from the same spot last night by trapping them in a net and standing in the water myself", he said. "Some people thought that it was sea lice, but nobody really knew anything".

"One would assume no and that he's going to be fine but we're taking every precaution".

Sam is now fine as the bleeding has finally stopped and will be released on Monday.

"We caught thousands of little mite-type characters, we took them home in the Esky, and we were playing scientists for an hour thereafter, putting them in different dishes and feeding them different things". The teen was taken to a nearby hospital, where the severity of the bleeding proved confounding for the staff.

"No one knows what the creatures are". He must have just come across a very dense swarm of them. "It was just unlucky", said marine biologist Genefor Walker-Smith.
