N.Korea conducts rocket engine test

Trump's Faint Praise For China's Xi Jinping

US officials tell FOX the test could be used for a future inter-continental ballistic missile capable of hitting the United States or for a new rocket engine to put a satellite into space.

North Korea has been stepping up its own weapons development in recent years, including multiple attempts to build an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Citing unnamed US officials, Reuters reports that Pyongyang may have been testing the last stage engine of an ICBM. "If a North Korean delegation takes part in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, I believe it will greatly contribute to realizing the Olympic values of friendship and peace", President Moon said, according to a script of his remarks released by the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul.

On Wednesday, Mr Trump thanked China for its help on pressuring North Korea, but said it hadn't worked, in what some read as a tweet criticising Beijing for inaction.

The success of this test launch signifies that we have acquired the greatest possible capability according to new South Korean and American missile guidelines.

Following the talks, the pair told reporters they pushed China on doing more about North Korea. But a U.S. official conceded to Fox News that although spy satellites have spotted increased activity around the test site, "nobody knows what that means".

South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who was elected last month on a platform of a more moderate approach to Pyongyang including dialogue to ease tension, inspected the test-launch of a ballistic missile on Friday that is being developed by the South's military.

North Korea's regime has claimed that its new rocket could deliver a "large heavy nuclear warhead" all the way to the United States mainland.

Kim Jong-Un is not afraid of flying like his late father Kim Jong-Il and he has cultivated an outgoing buoyant personal like his grandfather Kim Il-Sung, Communist North Korea's founder.

However, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman questioned such calls.

Park didn't say how far the Hyunmoo-2 missile flew or where it landed, but said it accurately hit its target space.

Pyongyang says the advanced missile system threatens its sovereignty, while Seoul claims that THAAD only serves as deterrence against North's possible attacks.

Mr Warmbier, 22, was arrested in January last year while visiting the reclusive country as a tourist and sentenced to 15 years of hard labour for trying to steal an item bearing a propaganda slogan from his hotel.
